The disintegration of large dynasties into small kingdoms and estates saw the birth of Havelis which were sumptuously decorated mansions used as residence by the new generation of royalties in Rajasthan. The Shekhawati region of Rajasthan is famous for its Havelis predominantly painted in blue, maroon, yellow, indigo etc. and decorated by wall paintings depicting Gods, heroes, epics and local legends. Another beautiful and important piece of architecture in Rajasthan is "baodi" which is a low step well ornamentally decorated with beautiful edifices.
